What Is an Amazon Affiliate Site Worth? (2026 Multiples)

The asset

What an Amazon affiliate site is actually worth.

One formula, one multiple, and about eight things that move that multiple by a third in either direction. Most of them are fixable — but only if you start twelve months before you want to sell.

The formula Current multiples What moves it The 12-month prep

The short version

  • Value = average monthly net profit × a multiple. That is the whole formula. Everything else is arguing about the two numbers in it.
  • Content sites have been transacting around 30–40× monthly profit, with brokers commonly working from a 30–50× range applied to a twelve-month average.
  • The multiple swings by roughly a third on things you control: diversification, trend, documentation, and how much of the business is you.
  • Twelve months of clean records is the single biggest lever. A site that cannot prove its earnings gets discounted before anyone looks at the content.
  • Being 100% dependent on one traffic source and one affiliate programme is the most expensive risk factor on the list — and 2026 made buyers much more sensitive to it.

Most affiliate publishers never think about this, which is a mistake even if you never sell. Knowing how a site is valued tells you which improvements are worth making, because the things that raise the sale price are largely the same things that make the site more durable to own.

The formula

Sale price = average monthly net profit × multiple

Two numbers, and buyers argue about both. The first is more contested than people expect.

What counts as net profit

Not revenue. Buyers deduct everything needed to keep the site running, and they are stricter than owners are with themselves:

  • Hosting, tools and subscriptions — anything the site cannot run without.
  • Content costs, including what you would have to pay a writer for the work you currently do free. This one surprises people and it is not negotiable: a business that depends on unpaid founder labour is worth less than one that does not.
  • Any freelancer or VA currently involved.
  • Not your own time beyond content production, and not one-off costs like a redesign.

The averaging window matters too. Brokers typically work from a twelve-month average, sometimes weighted toward recent months. A site that earned well until March and has declined since will be valued on the decline, not the peak.

Motion Invest28–32× monthlySmaller sites, faster process, lower multiple.
Private saleUsually lowerNo broker fee, but a much smaller buyer pool and more work proving your numbers.

Figures compiled from broker-published data and market analyses, August 2026. Multiples move with interest rates, buyer appetite and search-market confidence — treat these as a current snapshot rather than a constant, and check the broker’s own published figures before planning around any of them.

A worked example. A site averaging $1,200 a month in net profit at a 32× multiple is worth roughly $38,400. Move the multiple to 38× — achievable with diversification, a rising trend and clean records — and the same site is worth $45,600. That $7,200 difference comes from housekeeping, not from earning more.

What moves the multiple

This is the useful part. A base multiple of around 30× can realistically stretch toward the high 30s or fall into the low 20s, and the difference is mostly things you can change.

THE SAME PROFIT, A THIRD MORE MONEY BASE 30× ▲ Pushes toward 36–38× Several traffic sources, not just Google More than one income stream Twelve months of clean, provable records Earnings trending up over the last year Documented processes a stranger could follow Runs on a few hours a week An email list that transfers with the sale ▼ Pulls toward 22–26× All traffic from one search engine All income from one affiliate programme Earnings mixed in with personal accounts Declining over the last six months Everything lives in the owner’s head The owner is the brand and the face Content is thin or largely unedited AI output
None of the left-hand column requires earning more. All of it requires deciding twelve months early.

The three that matter most

Concentration risk. A site with all its traffic from Google and all its income from one affiliate programme is the single most heavily discounted profile in the market — and buyers became far more sensitive to it after 2026, when Amazon changed attribution twice and AI Overviews reshaped click-through. A second income stream and any non-search traffic materially changes how the site is priced. → adding display revenue · building a list

Provable numbers. If your affiliate earnings arrive in a personal account mixed with everything else, a buyer cannot verify them and will price the uncertainty. A separate bank account and a simple monthly profit-and-loss record, kept for twelve months, is the cheapest multiple increase available.

Owner dependence. If the site is your face, your voice and your photographs, a buyer inherits a business that loses its author on day one. This is an awkward tension: first-hand experience is exactly what makes affiliate content rank now. The workable middle ground is a site brand rather than a personal one, with your contributions attributed but not central to the identity.

The twelve-month preparation

Everything below has to be true for roughly a year before it counts, which is why deciding to sell in month eleven is expensive.

WhenWhat to do
Month 1Separate the finances. A dedicated bank account and a simple spreadsheet recording revenue and costs monthly. Nothing else on this list matters without it.
Months 1–3Add a second income stream. Display ads on informational pages is the usual quickest option. Start the email list if you have not.
Months 3–6Fix the decay — dead products, broken links, stale facts. A declining trend is the most expensive thing on the list, and this is usually why sites decline.
Months 6–9Write the documentation: how content gets produced, which tools, which suppliers, what the monthly routine is. Buyers pay for a business they can operate, not a folder of posts.
Months 9–12Reduce owner dependence. Move away from a personal brand where you can, and make sure nothing critical exists only in your head or your personal accounts.

Do not manufacture a spike. A common instinct before selling is to push revenue hard for two months. Buyers value on a twelve-month average and will notice an anomalous final quarter — it reads as manipulation and invites scrutiny of everything else. A steady, slightly rising twelve months prices better than a spike.

Where sites actually sell

Brokers

Empire Flippers, Motion Invest, FE International and similar. They vet, verify your numbers, and bring qualified buyers. They take a commission and the process takes time — but the verification is a large part of why broker sales achieve higher multiples.

Marketplaces and private sale

Flippa and direct sales. Lower fees, far more work: you prove your own numbers, filter your own buyers, and handle the transfer. Realistic for smaller sites and for people who enjoy the process.

The practical difference is verification. A buyer paying five figures wants proof, and a broker supplying it is worth more than the commission for most sellers. Below roughly $10,000 the arithmetic tips the other way.

Should you sell at all?

Worth doing the arithmetic honestly before assuming yes.

At a 33× multiple you are selling roughly two years and nine months of profit. If the site is stable and you expect it to keep earning for five years, selling means taking less than you would have earned — in exchange for certainty, and for the time you would have spent maintaining it.

Selling makes sense when

You want capital for something else, the site has plateaued, you have lost interest, or you think the category is heading downward faster than the buyer does.

Holding makes sense when

It is growing, it runs on a few hours a week, and you would only reinvest the proceeds in something similar anyway.

Either way

Do the twelve-month preparation. Every item on that list makes the site better to own as well as more valuable to sell.

The genuine argument to sell

Concentration risk cuts both ways. If one programme change could halve your income, a certain sum now may beat an uncertain stream later.

Common questions

How much is an Amazon affiliate site worth?

Average monthly net profit multiplied by a multiple. Content sites have been transacting broadly in the 30–40× range, with brokers commonly working from 30–50× applied to a twelve-month average. A site netting $1,200 a month at 32× is worth roughly $38,400.

What counts as net profit when valuing a site?

Revenue minus everything the site needs to keep running: hosting, tools, subscriptions, freelancers, and the cost of the content work you currently do for free. That last deduction surprises most owners and is not negotiable — a business dependent on unpaid founder labour is worth less.

What raises the multiple most?

Three things: not depending on a single traffic source and a single affiliate programme; twelve months of clean, provable financial records; and a rising rather than declining trend. Documentation and low owner dependence follow closely behind.

How long before selling should I start preparing?

Twelve months. Buyers value on a twelve-month average, so separated finances, a second income stream and a rising trend all need roughly a year of history before they count. Deciding to sell in month eleven costs real money.

Where is the best place to sell an affiliate site?

Brokers such as Empire Flippers or Motion Invest for anything above roughly $10,000 — they verify your numbers and bring qualified buyers, which is a large part of why broker sales achieve higher multiples. Below that, marketplaces or a private sale usually make more sense once the commission is weighed.

Does a site with declining traffic still sell?

Yes, at a lower multiple — often in the low 20s rather than the mid 30s. Buyers value on a twelve-month average and price the trend. If the decline is caused by dead products or stale content rather than by the category itself, fixing it before listing is usually worth several months of delay.

Should I sell if my site is growing?

At around 33× you are selling under three years of profit, so a stable growing site is often worth keeping. The genuine counter-argument is concentration risk: if one programme change could halve your income overnight — and 2026 showed that it can — a certain sum now may beat an uncertain stream later.

Does AI-written content lower the value?

Thin or unedited AI output does, because buyers see fragile rankings and a large editing liability. Content that happens to have been drafted with AI and then genuinely edited, fact-checked and enriched with first-hand detail is judged on its performance like any other. Buyers look at the traffic trend and the content quality, not the drafting method.
