A refresh replaces the article body with new AI content. It is genuinely useful for a page that has gone stale — and genuinely risky for one that already ranks well, because the rewrite can change exactly what Google was rewarding.
In one linePosts older than six months are eligible. Set a daily quota, let it run on autopilot, and always review what changed afterwards.
What counts as eligible
Automatic refresh only offers posts older than six months for a rewrite. A page that was written or last refreshed more recently than that is left alone by the automatic scan — the assumption being that nothing six months old or younger has had time to go stale.
A daily quota, not a flood
You set how many posts refresh per day. One post is processed per cron run and the chain reschedules itself until that day’s quota is reached, then stops until tomorrow. The queue survives a restart — if the site goes down mid-run, it picks up where it left off rather than losing its place.
Why this is not “select everything and run.” A pacing cap on refreshes is the same instinct as the publishing cadence rules for new content: real editorial teams do not rewrite forty articles overnight, and neither should an automated one.
The one warning worth reading twice
Refreshing replaces the article body. Always review updated posts afterwards, and think twice before selecting posts that already rank well — a rewrite can lose the ranking signals the current version earned. Also keep enough balance in your AI provider account so a scheduled run is never interrupted partway through a post.
In practice this means refresh is the right tool for a page that is quietly failing — thin, outdated, not ranking — and the wrong first move for a page that is already working. A page that already ranks is better served by a targeted update that keeps what is working than a full AI rewrite.
Manual retry bypasses the quota, deliberately
A dedicated Retry button lets you refresh a specific post by hand even when the daily quota is already spent or the automatic schedule is switched off entirely. It is strictly bounded to the posts you actually click — it does not quietly reopen the whole automatic queue. Use it when one page needs attention today rather than whenever its turn comes up.
Cancelling a queue
Cancel All Queued removes every post still waiting and turns the schedule off, so you can reselect and save a fresh list. Posts already refreshed before you cancel are not affected either way.
Same provider, same settings
Refresh uses whichever AI provider and model you have set generally — covered here — and produces the same content types the writer does. There is no separate, cheaper model tier reserved for refreshes; budget for it the same way you budget for new writing.
Common questions
Will refresh touch a post I edited last week?
No, if it is under six months old it is not offered by the automatic scan at all. A manual retry can still refresh it if you deliberately choose to.
Should I refresh a post that already ranks well?
Be cautious. The plugin’s own guidance is to think twice here, because a full rewrite can change what made the page rank in the first place. A lighter, targeted update usually serves a working page better than a full refresh.
What happens if my AI credit runs out mid-refresh?
The run is interrupted for that post. Keep a comfortable balance before starting a scheduled batch of refreshes so it does not stall partway through.
Can I refresh outside the schedule for one urgent post?
Yes, the manual Retry button works regardless of the daily quota or whether the automatic schedule is on at all.
