From a fresh install to your first live product box — in about 15 minutes.
Six short steps, in the order that actually works. No coding, no FTP, and nothing you cannot undo.
Have these ready before you start
- A self-hosted WordPress site (6.0 or newer, PHP 7.4+) where you are an administrator.
- Your Amazon Associates partner tag — it looks like
yoursite-20. - Optional: Amazon Creators API credentials, and an AI provider key if you want the writing features.
You do not need everything at once. Steps 1, 2 and 4 give you a working, earning product box. Steps 3 and 5 add AI writing whenever you are ready.
Install and activate
In your WordPress dashboard go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the zip file you downloaded, then click Install Now and Activate.
Your 14-day trial starts now, with every feature unlocked. Nothing charges today untill you cancell the subscription before day 15.
Connect your Amazon account
Open Affiliate Pro → Amazon API. This is the one step you should not skip: your partner tag is what credits commissions to you.
With Creators API credentials
- Reliable titles, images and availability
- Faster page rendering
- Accurate stock and health checks
Without them
Switch on the no-credentials mode and the plugin still works — product data is fetched more slowly and a few fields may be missing. Perfectly fine for getting started while your API application is pending.
Amazon requires three qualifying sales before it grants Product Advertising / Creators API access to a new Associates account. Start in no-credentials mode, make your first sales, then add the keys — nothing you build in the meantime is wasted.
Add an AI provider key
Only needed if you want the plugin to write for you. Open Affiliate Pro → AI Settings, pick a provider and paste your key.
| Provider | Good for | Where the key comes from |
|---|---|---|
| OpenAI | Balanced quality and speed | platform.openai.com |
| Claude | Longer, more natural articles | console.anthropic.com |
| Gemini | Generous free usage tier | Google AI Studio |
| DeepSeek | Lowest cost per article | platform.deepseek.com |
You pay the AI provider directly. The plugin never resells credits, so a long article typically costs a few cents rather than a monthly writing subscription — and you can set a fallback provider so writing continues if your first choice is busy.
Place your first product box
Find any product on Amazon and copy its ASIN — the 10-character code in the URL after /dp/. Paste this into any post or page:
Publish, and that is a live, tagged, tracked product box. The demo below shows exactly what happens.
Prefer not to touch shortcodes? Every display is also a Gutenberg block — search for “Ama” in the block inserter and fill in the fields visually.
The shortcodes you will actually use
| Shortcode | Result | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Product card or grid | Your default — anywhere you recommend something |
| Comparison table | “X vs Y” posts and roundups |
| Ranked list by keyword | “Best of” articles that should stay current |
| Tagged text link | Inline mentions inside a paragraph |
| Scrolling deal strip | Homepages and sidebars |
Write your first article with AI
Open Affiliate Pro → AI Content Writer, then:
- Pick a type — single review, comparison, top-5 roundup or informational guide.
- Enter your keyword (and ASINs, if the type needs specific products).
- Choose whether the draft saves as a draft or publishes, and which category it lands in.
- Click write, then review the draft like you would any writer’s first pass.
Once one article works end to end, the bulk mode takes a CSV of keywords and works through them on a schedule — that is where the real time saving is.
Always read before publishing. AI drafts are a strong starting point, not a finished product. Check the claims, add your own testing notes, and your pages will outperform the sites that publish raw output.
Switch on the safety nets
These run quietly in the background and are the reason the site keeps earning months later. Under Affiliate Pro → Growth Tools:
Product Health Monitor
Flags discontinued and out-of-stock products before your visitors hit them.
Visitor tracking
Turn it on in Display settings so Analytics can show which posts and products actually earn.
Marketplace localisation
Sends each visitor to their own Amazon store with the correct tag — worth switching on from day one.
If something does not look right
My product box shows nothing at all
Nine times out of ten the ASIN is wrong. It must be the 10-character code from the product URL after /dp/, with no spaces. Also confirm the marketplace in the Amazon API tab matches where that product is sold — a US ASIN will not resolve against amazon.co.uk.
The box appears but my tag is missing
Check the partner tag field in the Amazon API tab. It must be your exact Associates tracking ID, for example yoursite-20. Save the settings, then reload the post — links are rebuilt on render, so no re-publishing is needed.
The AI writer returns an error or an empty article
Confirm the API key is pasted with no trailing spaces and that the account has credit. If one provider is slow or busy, set a fallback provider in AI Settings so writing continues automatically instead of failing.
Nothing shows in Analytics yet
Visitor tracking must be enabled in Display settings, and data only appears once real visitors arrive. Your own visits as a logged-in editor are deliberately ignored so your numbers stay honest.
Can I undo all of this?
Yes. Deactivating stops the boxes rendering while keeping every setting. Before deleting permanently, run the cleanup tool in Growth Tools — it converts the plugin’s links back into ordinary Amazon links so your published pages keep earning either way.
You are 15 minutes from your first monetised post
Every feature is unlocked for 14 days. Install it, add your tag, and publish.
