AAWP or Ama Affiliate Pro — which one does the job you actually have?
Both put Amazon product boxes and comparison tables into WordPress posts, and honestly the boxes look much the same. The real difference is what happens either side of that: who writes the article, and who notices when the product in it stops existing.
Who wrote this. We make Ama Affiliate Pro, so we are one of the two products on this page and we are not a neutral party. What we can offer instead of neutrality is checkability: every row in the table below is a feature that either exists or does not, and you can confirm each one on AAWP’s own site in about five minutes. Where AAWP is the better choice, this page says so and names who should buy it.
The short version
- If all you need is product boxes and tables, AAWP does that well and has done for years. It is a mature, focused plugin and there is nothing wrong with it.
- AAWP is built around Amazon’s Product Advertising API. That is its strength — clean, official data — and its constraint, because you need approval, and approval needs sales.
- Ama Affiliate Pro also writes the articles — five types, not just reviews — and keeps working with no API credentials at all through a provider chain.
- The maintenance half is where the two genuinely differ. Dead products, dead links, orphan posts, unmonetised old articles: a display plugin has no reason to care about any of it.
- Do not switch just to switch. If your site is small, your products are current and you write everything yourself, AAWP is not costing you anything.
What each one actually is
AAWP
A WordPress plugin for displaying Amazon products — product boxes, comparison tables, bestseller lists and data fields, driven by Amazon’s Product Advertising API. It has been the default answer to “how do I put an Amazon box in a post” for the best part of a decade, and it is very good at that specific job.
Ama Affiliate Pro
A WordPress plugin that writes the five kinds of article an Amazon affiliate site needs, keeps the products inside them alive as they go out of stock, records which article earns rather than which is busy, and sends international readers to their own Amazon store. Ultra adds an agent that decides which of those to do today.

Where AAWP is the better answer
Written first, and at length, because it is the part of a comparison page that is usually missing and the part that decides whether you should trust the rest of it.
It has been doing one thing for a decade, and it shows
AAWP is focused. It displays Amazon products and it has had years of edge cases beaten out of it by a very large user base — odd themes, page builders, caching plugins, unusual marketplaces. A newer plugin with a wider remit has, by definition, met fewer of those. If your site is an AAWP site today and everything renders correctly on it, that is worth something real and nobody should talk you out of it lightly.
If you already have API access, the official data is the cleanest there is
Amazon’s Product Advertising API is the authoritative source, and a plugin built entirely around it has no fallbacks to reason about, no provider to pay and no scraping to go wrong. Our source chain exists because getting API approval is a chicken-and-egg problem for a new site. If that problem is already behind you, it buys you less than it buys somebody starting today.
It does not try to write anything, which some people want
A significant number of publishers do not want an AI anywhere near their articles, and are right not to for their niche and their audience. Half of what we charge for is writing and refreshing content. If you will never use that half, you are paying for it anyway — and a display-only plugin is the more honest purchase.
Choose AAWP if:

You can build the whole site before Amazon approves you
Amazon generally wants three qualifying sales before it grants API access, and you need a site with products on it to make three sales. Ama Affiliate Pro breaks that loop: your own credentials are used when you have them, a cheap third-party provider fills in when you do not, and a free public-page mode covers the case where you have neither. Nothing about the plugin is locked behind approval you cannot get yet.
The half of the work that is not writing
Sixteen tools for the site you already have: every ASIN checked on a schedule so a discontinued product gets swapped rather than earning nothing forever; dead outbound links found on proof; published posts that contain no Amazon element at all identified and fixed; orphan posts given a contextual internal link; near-duplicate articles grouped so they stop competing with each other. None of this is exciting and all of it costs money when nobody is doing it.
Which article earns, not which article is busy
Visits, traffic source and Amazon click rate in one row, per article, stored in your own database. That combination is what turns “this post gets 1,400 visits” into “this post gets 1,400 visits and zero clicks, and here is why”. An analytics tool cannot tell you the second half and Amazon cannot tell you the first.
Content, at the scale a real site needs
Five article types rather than reviews only, because a review-only site never grows — the traffic comes from the questions around the purchase. Bulk runs happen on your server, so a batch of two hundred articles survives closing the laptop. You pay your AI provider directly at their rates: no credits, no word limit, no margin on tokens.

There is no per-word charge and no credit pack — the plugin shows you the real cost per article from the token counts each call returns, and on a cheap model that is a fraction of a cent.
The comparison that matters is not the sticker price, it is the total. Add your AI spend to ours; add another year of renewals to theirs; then decide. For a site that will exist in five years those two numbers are not close, and for a site that might not exist in five months they are almost identical.
What moving actually involves
The honest part of any switch. Nobody’s migration is free, and a page that pretends otherwise is setting up a refund.
Your existing AAWP shortcodes keep rendering — until you deactivate AAWP
The two plugins use different shortcodes, so there is no automatic swap. The practical route is to run both for a while: leave old posts on AAWP shortcodes, write new ones with ours, and convert the old posts gradually. Nothing breaks while both are active, and you are never in a state where half the site has no product boxes.
Plain Amazon links convert automatically, and that is usually most of them

Budget an afternoon, not a weekend, and do not do it in one sitting
Convert your ten highest-traffic posts first, check them on desktop and mobile, and leave the rest for a week. If anything about the new boxes does not suit your theme, you will find it on ten pages rather than four hundred.
The verdict
AAWP and Ama Affiliate Pro are answers to different questions. AAWP answers “how do I display an Amazon product properly”, and it answers it well. We answer “how do I run an Amazon affiliate site that keeps working”, of which displaying products is one part. If you have a small, current, hand-written site and API access, AAWP is genuinely sufficient and switching would be motion rather than progress. If you are starting without API approval, or you have an older site where you no longer know which products are dead and which posts earn nothing, the difference is not cosmetic.

Common questions
Can I run AAWP and Ama Affiliate Pro at the same time?
Yes. They use different shortcodes and do not interfere with each other, which is the sensible way to migrate — leave existing posts on AAWP, write new ones with ours, and convert the old ones when you have time. Do not deactivate AAWP until you have converted the posts that use its shortcodes, or those posts will render the raw shortcode text.
Do I need Amazon API access for Ama Affiliate Pro?
No. Your own Amazon Creators API credentials are the best source and are used whenever they are saved, but the plugin falls back to a cheap third-party data provider, and then to a free mode that reads public Amazon pages. You can build and run a complete site while your Associates account works towards the three qualifying sales that unlock API access.
Will switching lose my rankings?
Changing which plugin renders a product box does not change the article’s text, title, URL or internal links, so there is no reason for it to. What can affect rankings is a layout that loads more slowly or shifts as it renders — check Core Web Vitals on a converted page before you convert four hundred of them.
Does Ama Affiliate Pro do everything AAWP does?
The display side is close but not identical, and any comparison that claims a perfect superset should be treated with suspicion. Which is better for a brand-new site?
Ours, for one structural reason rather than a general one: a new site does not have Amazon API access and cannot get it until it makes sales. A plugin that requires the API is a plugin you cannot fully use in month one.
Which is better for an established site with hundreds of posts?
That depends on whether the site is well maintained. If you know every product in it is current and every post is monetised, the display layer is all you need. If you do not know that — and most people with hundreds of posts do not — the maintenance tools are the reason to switch, and the Product Health Monitor usually pays for the licence on its first run.
Is the AI writing any good?
It is as good as the model you point it at, which is the honest answer and the reason you bring your own key. Drafting on a cheap model and polishing on an expensive one is a supported setup precisely because the difference is real. Do you have an affiliate programme, and does that bias this page?
