Free is not a typo. Both Gemini options are genuinely free within their quota. For a site just starting out, Gemini 2.5 Flash is a reasonable way to write your first batch of articles at zero AI cost while you decide whether the workflow suits you.
A fifth option: your own gateway
If you use a reseller or a gateway that speaks an OpenAI-compatible or Anthropic-compatible API — usually cheaper than the official APIs — add it as a custom provider: a name, a base URL, a key, and the model IDs it accepts. Three custom slots are available; the second and third only appear in the provider list once you have given them a base URL, so a fresh install shows one clean custom option rather than three empty, confusing ones.
Two independent choices: writing and comparisons
The main provider and model (set under AI Settings) drive the AI Content Writer. The Compare Builder and keyword-generation tools have their own separate provider and model setting, because a comparison table or a keyword list is lighter work and does not need your best (or most expensive) model. You can point the writer at Claude Sonnet for quality and leave Compare Builder on a fast, cheap model — they never have to match.
What happens when you switch provider
Change the provider and the plugin checks whether the model you had saved actually belongs to the new one. If it does not — which is the normal case, since a Claude model ID means nothing to DeepSeek — it silently falls back to that provider’s own recommended default rather than sending a request with a model ID that provider will reject.
This is worth knowing before you assume a setting “did not save”. If you switch providers and the model field shows something different from what you expected, that is this fallback working correctly, not a bug. Re-select the model you actually want after switching.
Image generation is separate again
Feature and in-article images use their own model choice, defaulting to flux through Pollinations — free, no key required. Other Flux variants are available (flux-realism, flux-anime, flux-3d, flux-schnell, and paid tiers like flux-pro-ultra) if the default style is not what a particular site needs. A custom provider can also serve its own image models, listed the same way as its text models.
What leaves your server
Only the request itself — your prompt and the API key needed to authenticate it — goes to the provider you chose. No site content, credentials or Amazon data is sent anywhere except the AI provider you have explicitly configured, and never to amawp.com.
Common questions
Which provider should I start with?
DeepSeek V4 Flash if you want the best quality-for-cost, or Gemini 2.5 Flash if you want to write for free while you learn the workflow. Both are marked Recommended in the plugin for that reason.
Can I use a different provider for images than for text?
Yes. Image generation has its own model setting entirely separate from the text provider, so you are never forced to match them.
Do I need a paid plan with the provider?
Only for the providers that are not free. DeepSeek, OpenAI and paid Anthropic models bill per token to your own account; the free Gemini tiers do not.
Why does my saved model keep resetting?
Almost always because the provider was changed and the previously saved model belonged to a different one. The plugin falls back to a safe default rather than sending an invalid model ID — reselect the model you want after switching.
