Docs › Shortcodes
Three shortcodes render persistent units that follow the reader rather than sitting in the article: , and . They share a rule the in-article shortcodes do not have — one of each per page, and the second one renders nothing.
In one linePut one anywhere in the post body. Position and styling come from the Display tab; the shortcode only needs to exist.
The one-per-page rule
The floating bar and the ticker each render once per page. If the shortcode appears twice — a common accident when it is in both the content and a template — the second call returns an empty string. Nothing is logged and nothing looks broken; you simply get one unit.
This is why a floating bar can vanish after a theme change. If your template already injects one, the copy in your post body is the second call and renders nothing. Remove one of the two rather than hunting for a display setting.
— the floating bar
| Attribute | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
asin |
empty | Pin a specific product. |
keyword |
empty | Search phrase, used when asin is empty. |
position |
Display tab setting, otherwise bottom |
Overrides the position for this one page. |
With neither asin nor keyword, the plugin derives a keyword from the post itself and searches for a single product. That makes a bare work on any post without configuration — and means the product is chosen for you, with all the caveats that carries.
The five accepted positions:
| Value | Renders |
|---|---|
bottom |
Bottom bar, centred strip. The default. |
bottom_left |
Bottom bar, pinned to the left. |
bottom_right |
Bottom bar, pinned to the right. |
left |
Left sidebar rail — a tall card rather than a bar. |
right |
Right sidebar rail — a tall card rather than a bar. |
left and right switch to a completely different shape, not just a different corner. An unrecognised value falls back to bottom silently.
— the exit-intent pop-up
| Attribute | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
asin |
empty | Pin a specific product. |
keyword |
empty | Search phrase, used when asin is empty. |
Same fallback as the floating bar: with neither attribute it derives a keyword from the post. Trigger behaviour, delay and frequency are Display tab settings, not shortcode attributes — the shortcode decides what is shown, the settings decide when.
— the scrolling strip
| Attribute | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
asins |
empty | Comma-separated ASINs to scroll. |
text |
empty | One caption used for every item. |
texts |
empty | Per-item captions. |
speed |
medium |
slow, medium or fast. Anything else becomes medium. |
ai |
0 |
Set to 1 to pick products automatically from the post. |
ai="1" ignores your asins entirely. In AI mode the ticker derives a keyword from the post title, searches for five products and scrolls those instead. Passing both is not a merge — your hand-picked list is discarded without a warning.
In AI mode, text becomes the caption for every item; leave it empty and each item is captioned with its own product title.
A note on using all three
A bar at the bottom, a pop-up on exit and a ticker at the top is three interruptions on one article. Each one measurably costs you reading time, and Google’s guidance on intrusive interstitials is explicit about content obscured by overlays. Pick the one that suits the page and leave the others off — the setup guide covers the tradeoffs.
Common questions
Why does my second floating bar not appear?
By design — the floating bar and the ticker render once per page and later calls return nothing. Usually the culprit is a shortcode in both the post body and a template.
Can I show a different product in the bar than in the article?
Yes, pass asin on the shortcode. That is the main reason to pass it at all, since the automatic keyword usually lands on the article’s main product.
Do these work on mobile?
They render, but the sidebar rail positions are a desktop shape and the bottom bar is the sensible mobile choice. Test on a phone before shipping one site-wide.
Does the pop-up need the visitor to have scrolled?
That depends on the trigger settings on the Display tab, not on the shortcode. The shortcode only supplies the product.
