Amazon Associates Canada commission rates, every category, checked this month.
Canada pays 9% on pet supplies and 6% on home and fashion, but 0% on grocery and 1% on computers. The full table from Amazon.ca, how it compares with four other stores, and the payout rules.
The short version
- Pet supplies pay 9% on Amazon.ca. Three times the US rate, and the highest pet rate of the five stores compared here.
- Home, furniture, garden and fashion pay 6%. Double the US rate on home and furniture.
- Tech and food are the weak spots. Computers pay 1%, grocery pays nothing, and the fallback for unnamed items is only 2%.
- Payout starts at 10 CAD by direct deposit, about 60 days after the end of each month.
Canadian readers are easy to under-serve. They search in English, land on American content, click amazon.com links, and either bounce off a store that will not ship to them or buy on a store where your Canadian account earns nothing. Amazon.ca runs its own programme, and its rate table rewards quite different niches from the American one.
Every rate below was copied from Amazon.ca’s Standard Commission Income Statement on 1 October 2026, and the rules from the programme policies (last updated 14 April 2026).

Cell phones pay 5% in Canada. Compare India, where phones pay 1% at best and dozens of named models pay nothing. A Canadian phone-review site is one of the few places a phone recommendation earns properly.

Canada sits in an interesting place. On lifestyle categories (pets, home, garden, fashion, beauty) it beats the US, often by a wide margin. On anything technical or edible it pays less. And its 2% fallback is the joint-lowest of the five, so a product Amazon does not file under a named category earns half what it would on amazon.com.
What a sale is actually worth
| Product | Price | Rate | You earn |
|---|---|---|---|
| Large bag of dog food (pet food & supplies) | $90 CAD | 9% | $8.10 |
| Patio heater (patio, lawn & garden) | $250 CAD | 6% | $15.00 |
| Laptop (computers) | $1,200 CAD | 1% | $12.00 |
| Coffee beans (grocery) | $30 CAD | 0% | $0.00 |
The patio heater earns more than the laptop at a fifth of the price. Dog food is the interesting one: a modest price, a high rate, and a product people buy again, inside the 89-day cart window if they added it during your session. Our guide to scoring a niche on four factors weighs that kind of repeat purchase alongside the rate.
Bounties
| Bounty | Amount |
|---|---|
| Amazon Prime free trial, Prime Video free trial, Prime Video Channels free trial, Prime for Young Adults trial | $3.00 |
| Amazon Music Unlimited free trial, Amazon Kids+ free trial | $3.00 |
| Wedding registry created, with at least one item | $3.00 |
| Kindle Unlimited free trial or promotional offer | $4.00 |
| Baby registry created, with at least one item | $5.00 |
Both registry bounties carry a condition worth reading twice: they only pay if you were already entitled to commission on three or more qualifying purchases before the registry was created. A brand-new account cannot open with registry bounties.
The rules that decide whether you get paid
- A 24-hour session. Ends after 24 hours, when the visitor places an order, or when they click another associate’s link.
- An 89-day cart window. Items added to the cart during your session count if the order is completed within 89 days of the click.
- Paid about 60 days after month end. Minimum 10 CAD by deposit or gift card, 100 CAD by cheque (with a 15 CAD processing fee).
- Prices need a timestamp. If you show an Amazon.ca price, the policies require the date and time it was fetched beside it, in the form Amazon’s own example shows: “Amazon.ca Price: $ 32.77 (as of 01/07/2008 14:11 PST- Details)”.
What this means for a site with Canadian readers
If Canada is a meaningful share of your traffic, pets, home, garden and fashion are where Amazon.ca pays best, and where a localised link earns two or three times what the amazon.com link would have. Check your analytics before writing this off: Canadian visitors often hide in the “English, North America” mass that most sites assume is American.
The fix is not a redirect on its own. Localising Amazon links by country explains why a redirect without your Canadian tag earns nothing, and how to set up both. For automatic product data from Amazon.ca, note that Canada shares the North American credential region with the US in the Creators API, but you still need a Canadian tag and Canadian API approval.

Send Canadian readers to amazon.ca, with your Canadian tag
Ama Affiliate Pro rewrites Amazon links per visitor country, using a store-and-tag map you set once, so the Canadian share of your traffic earns at Amazon.ca’s rates instead of nothing.

What is the Amazon Associates Canada commission rate?
Between 0% and 10% depending on the category. Luxury beauty pays 10%, pet food and supplies 9%, jewellery and luggage 7%, and clothing, beauty, furniture, home and garden 6%. Electronics-adjacent categories pay 4–5%, computers and consoles 1%, grocery 0%, and anything not named 2%.
Does Amazon.ca pay more than Amazon.com?
In most lifestyle categories, yes. Pet supplies pay 9% in Canada against 3% in the US, and home and furniture pay 6% against 3%. Canada pays less on computers (1% against 2.5%), grocery (0% against 1%) and on anything not named in the table (2% against 4%).
How long is the Amazon.ca affiliate cookie?
24 hours from the click. Products added to the cart during that time still count if the order is completed within 89 days of the original click. The session ends early if the visitor places an order or clicks another associate’s link.
What is the minimum payout for Amazon Associates Canada?
10 CAD by direct deposit or gift card, or 100 CAD by cheque, which also carries a 15 CAD processing fee. Payment is made approximately 60 days after the end of the month in which the commission was earned.
Does Amazon.ca pay bounties?
Yes, from $3 to $5. A Prime free trial, Prime Video trial, Music Unlimited trial or Kids+ trial pays $3, Kindle Unlimited pays $4, and a baby registry pays $5. Registry bounties only count once you have earned commission on three or more qualifying purchases.
Can I use one Amazon Associates account for Canada and the US?
No. Amazon.ca and Amazon.com are separate programmes with separate tags and separate rate tables. A Canadian visitor sent to amazon.com earns nothing on your Canadian account, so a site with readers in both countries needs both accounts and links localised by country.
